Since 1993, Anne Geller, CEO of Thunder Ridge Emu Products , has been raising emus on her 30-acre ranch outside of Manassas, Virginia. The ranch, situated in the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains, is home to over 200 emus, flightless birds native to Australia, making Thunder Ridge the largest emu farm in the eastern United States. Inspired by the low-pitched thunder sound that female emus make, Ms. Geller named both the farm and her company Thunder Ridge.
