Gourmet International Ltd. specializes in the importation and distribution of high-quality specialty foods and confections across the United States. Our esteemed clientele comprises gourmet retailers, premium grocers, delis, gift shops, gift basket companies, and online retailers, among others. (Please note that we do not engage in direct-to-consumer sales.) Our products are available in case quantities for customers within the Continental U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico).

The story of Gourmet International began over four decades ago, when Horst and Erika Nitzsche immigrated from Germany to Michigan. Their vision led to the establishment of Erika’s Delicatessen and Import Haus, a retail store offering their local community an authentic taste of their homeland.

As demand for specialty food items expanded beyond West Michigan, a new venture emerged. In 1989, Gourmet International was officially incorporated. Today, second-generation owners Mike and Monica continue the legacy, sharing their passion by providing an even wider array of specialty foods to diverse market segments across the United States.

Gourmet International proudly serves as the exclusive importer of more than 35 esteemed European brands, spanning from savory to sweet. With a dedicated team, we now reach every corner of the 50 states. Over the past three decades, our warehouse has seen four expansions, culminating in a recent move to a larger, more efficient space. A new 125,000 square foot facility is designed to enhance service, complemented by a brand-new website. Our aim is to consistently surpass your expectations across all aspects of service. Our staff and field sales representatives stand ready to assist you in product selection, merchandising strategies, and marketing initiatives.
